HOME’S A FEELING
During these months we all redefined two vital concepts: “freedom” and “home”. The sense of belonging and comfort, the feeling of letting go and getting lost. The nostalgia felt by one who lives away from home and the ability to breathe whilst seeing the horizon surrounded by our loved ones. This collection is an ode to feelings, to the pleasure of living, to the luxury of comfort –both corporeal and emotional.
Drawing deep inspiration from the complex shapes and movement of the male body, Barrera’s queer female gaze allows her to view intellectually and artistically, seeing masculinity and male sexuality - the emotions, the forms, the behaviours - the social codes that define what it means to identify as male.
Having been forced apart from those we love, forced to retreat into our domestic world and away from the everyday interactions, this collection embodies the joy of sharing, the platonic intimacies of an embrace, and a celebration of a casual hand around our shoulders. All that we will never again take for granted.
