THE JUMPSUITS FILM PROJECT: LOW HANGING FRUIT

Something central to Carlota Barrera is a study of masculinity and bodies. We want to start a dialogue about gender and rigid masculine codes being replaced by new masculinities: men are getting rid of the uptight stereotypes traditionally related to their gender, feeling freer to express themselves in a way that was previously reserved for women. There is now strength in vulnerability, power in emotion, respect for fluidity.

And yet we find ourselves in a time when it has never been harder to express that softness. We’ve been forced apart from those we love, forced to retreat into our domestic world and away from the everyday interactions, the platonic intimacies of an embrace, a casual hand around your shoulders. Such freedom in physical expression feels almost reckless in current terms - and it is what makes this collaborative short film, ‘Low Hanging Fruit’, feel all the more nostalgically evocative. There is a certain sense of corporeal discomfort, a hesitation that fights with the longing for proximity. That hesitation is something that we’ve likely all encountered in our relationships, but it’s a feeling that is ever more prevalent in these times. ⠀

Magnus and Max wear the now signature jumpsuits with cut outs from our Core Collection. We believe garments shouldn’t be for just one season, and at a time when we are all being asked to consider what is really essential, our vision feels more relevant now than ever.
